Works well but softener dispenser clogs

Washer works well. It is reasonably quiet and has low vibration levels. Overall capacity is good especially compared to our previous 20+ year-old washer. This is considered a high-efficiency washer so you have to get used to the lesser amount of water it uses compared to older machines. The primary negative is the fabric softener dispenser clogs with the softener residue quite frequently. We have to remove and clean the dispenser tray after every 10 loads or so. It is a simple task but really shouldnt be necessary that frequently.

We bought this washer after doing lots of visits to different stores. They recommended top loading washer because it cleans better and there wont be foul smell from the water not draining properly from front load. But there still is foul smell even after doing afresh every 10 loads. The cleaning itself is average. When I call LG multiple times they say it is not a manufacturing defect and so they are going to charge even though we have the warranty. We have never had this smell issue before from Maytag or Sears washers. Very disappointed with LG as we bought this product because we were told it is supposed to be the best.

Terrible Washer Believe the Bad Reviews

I really wanted to like this washing machine but it has been an absolute nightmare from day one. It doesnt clean clothes properly and I often have to run loads twice just to get them halfway decent. Each cycle takes forever sometimes up to 2.5 hours and thats before I have to rewash things. The detergent trays stay wet for days after use and even leaving the lid open all the time doesnt stop the musty smell that builds up inside. Ive had to run drum clean cycles constantly just to keep the odor under control which means wasting even more water and electricity. Since installing this washer my utility bills have gone up and my clothes still arent coming out clean. To make matters worse customer service has been no help. weve been getting the runaround for weeks with no resolution. I had hoped the people leaving poor reviews were just unlucky but they were absolutely right. Save yourself the frustration and money. DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER.

My front load washer that I had for 20+ years didnt use enough water to really get the clothes clean so I decided to finally go back to a top load and chose this one for its large capacity ability. Hoping to get my 11 small loads per week down to 5 larger ones. Thought I may be imagining it but Im not even when I add extra water I have CLOTHES COMING OUT OF A COMPLETE WASH CYCLE WITH DRY SPOTS. Attached pictures of my sons summer weight joggers that were in an average load of socks a couple t-shirts pillow case and another pair of joggers. The light colored spots are completely dry while the dark spots wet. The agitator on this machine sucks. Instead of turning the clothes over from top to bottom where they would actually get wet it just wiggles one way and then reverses to wiggle the other way only scaring the clothes on the top halfway under water. I want my 27 year old washer with a true screw type agitator back that my mom is still using after all these years No bells or whistles but it got clothes clean. Theres too much emphasis on smart appliances that interface with an app but cant manage to do what you bought it for. I should throw my clothes in the bathtub and stomp on them like grapes and they would actually get clean and I could have saved myself a LOT of money.

Ive had the machine for almost 6 months. Complaints: #1. When I am washing my bed sheet on the bedding program I always have to pause the machine when it gets to the spin cycle and manually re-distribute my sheet around the drum as it is always off to one side at the end of the rinse cycle. I think the size of the tub in itself may actually be contributing to this issue - so bigger may not always be better in this case. However maybe there is a better way for me to be load into the machine at the beginning? #2. When it has detects an unbalanced load its solution first is to add another rinse cycle to help untangle and re-distribute the items. If this is going to be a feature the subsequent rinse cycles should be shorter than the first. #3. Because of the lower water levels used I found mesh bags dont really work well unless you stuff em up exception are the circle shaped ones which dont do well at all. However if the main purpose of using mesh bags is to protect delicate clothing the best thing to do is to just use the delicate downloaded cycle. Aside from these things I think the machine is pretty good. I have had no issue with stain removal as some other reviewers have mentioned. When it comes to stains you are supposed to pre-treat them with the appropriate product/chemical before putting them in the wash any way and select the the appropriate temperature setting for the stain i.e. cold water for blood. Any residue on clothes means your using too much detergent. When it comes to water level the machine will gradually add in the appropriate amount as the wash cycle continues. How you initially load your clothing however will make a noticeable difference in how well they get submerged in the water. The machine is pretty quiet overall except when the TurboWash feature is used. It becomes a little noisier because of the jet sprays. Its not a feature I use much of though - only for very small loads.

You cannot change the temperature settings on most cycles listed. Normal setting is medium high temperature. Dont buy. Get a cheap one you can easily function without using the quick dry to timed dry feature. $1000 for two setting. .

I like the glass lid but what is the point with the tint? You can not see in side. I also do not like the tilt feature on the top of the dryer. I like to put my laundry detergent there. I would rather them not match. It is nice to be able to reach in the washer. I would also like a soak feature. I havent been able to figure that out. Other than that the washer and dryer are a good pair.

IF THERE WAS A ZERO STAR AVAILABLE I WOULD GIVE THAT This machine is an example of human life when they design things thinking human are dumb and human will is not relevant What kind of designing are you guys doing where I cant soak clothes Let alone choosing to soak for longer time for certain loads. The machine drains out all my soap water even after I turn the darn thing off while it starts to drain left the lid open it still drains it in few minutes. When it starts to drain it by itself it does not allow me to turn it off to stop it. What on earth is wrong with you people APARENTLY THE PERSON WHO DESIGNED THIS MACHINE HAS TO BE A LONELY SINGLE MAN WITH NO LILFE

We purchased this washer in January 2025 after consulting Consumer Reports when our 24-year-old machine washed its last load. After our new washer was installed the learning process for me began. This new machine isnt my grandmothers wringer washer and I had to learn how to do laundry all over again. Since this washer senses the weight of clothes to be washed I learned how to select the proper cycle for each load and have become quite pleased with its cycles and quiet performance. In fact I look forward to laundry day. From washing a few small pieces to a queen-size blanket or winter coat this machine does it all with cycles to match. I dont think we have ever had so many clean clothes in this house before We couldnt be more pleased with the ability and performance of this WT8405CW washing machine.

Missing the Delicate Cycle on this washer

Not sure why there isnt a Gentle / Hand Wash Cycle on this washer. They still have it on the dryer. I always have a t least on load of delicates that I want to wash and am forced to try and figure out what buttons to push to actually do a gentle / delicate load of laundry.

Weve had this washer for about 3 months. Overall it performs well. The controls are easy enough to understand although it took a number of tries to settle on our preferred cycles and settings to avoid not wasting a lot of water. The Wash performance is good. 2 negatives observed so far. One are the syphons in the detergent and softener dispensers. They dont work. Typically one or both dispensers are full of water at the end of a wash. Ive read the LG support info on this topic and followed their suggestions. The syphons just dont drain. LG claim this is caused by build up of detergent or softener. Ive cleaned the dispenser tray and this doesnt help. Weve never even used softener and that tray doesnt drain either so it cant be residue build up. The work around is not a big deal but this is really stupid on LGs part for such a simple thing. They really should redesign these syphons and provide replacement parts. The second issue is with the downloadable cycles eg delicate cycle. This is really poorly done and its a real pain to find these. Im glad we dont really need this functionality.

Problem with the default settings

Both washer and dryer were delivered yesterday. I was excited to try them out. Howre ever I noticed on the washer every wash setting i.e. Normal Quick Wash Deep wash etc. all default to the hot water setting. According to the book they are supposed to default to warm. How can this be reset to default to warm?

STAY AWAY FROM LG

LG is a Joke Stay Away 3/15/2025

How do you give ZERO stars? The absolute worst customer service. NEVER AGAIN will I purchase anything from LG. I purchased a new washer and it hasnt worked properly since the first load. I am not even going to go into detail on the faulty washer but rather the lack of response from customer service and the joke of a Presidential liaison department. After my first call I had to take a day off work and have someone from LG come to my house to service the washer. The technician was there for 20 minutes and then deemed it non repairable and left. I called LG the next day and they said they had to send a second person out to my house which I find ridiculous. I take another day off work and wait around as they give me a 8-5 time frame. The tech shows up at 7:30pm while having dinner with my family. Despite his late arrival and me having to take another day off work he was very knowledgeable and tried his best to repair only to be unsuccessful. Again the next day I called LG and was given the runaround so I ask to speak with a Supervisor which took way to long to happen as the from line agent gave me a hard time and didnt want to connect me to anyone above her. Finally after speaking with Supervisor George he tells me they have to send someone out to my house for a 3rd time. Of course I am beyond upset at this point as I have already taken 2 days off work and now you are asking me to take a 3rd day of PTO and I still do not have a properly working washer for a family of 7. Supervisor George tells me that he promises the 3rd time if they cannot fix it then it will automatically be replaced or I would be given a refund but it has to be three times. In an effort to try to end this nightmare I said OK send someone out AGAIN. Technician comes out again and uploads his notes that I am using the proper detergent he has tried to repair the machine etc. etc. and the machine is unrepairable. So once again I put in a call to LG and get bounced around as I asked to speak with the same supervisor George and apparently they couldnt do that. Another Supervisor gets on the phone and has the nerve to tell me that someone needs to come out to my house a 4th time as the last technician didnt call LG technical support directly. So now there has been 3 technicians 3 visits later and still the runaround and STILL A BROKEN WASHER. They send me to Marion who is supposed to be the presidential liaison. Marion tries to reassure me now that he has the case it will be taken care of immediately. However he needs to send someone to my house a 4th time. At this point I dont know if it is easier to laugh cry or shout as this has to be a joke. The presidential liaison response is to send someone out yet again for the 4th time. Keep in mind to even get to this point there has been many many phone calls headaches and days off work. All while still having a broken washer. Once again in an effort to get a new washer or get my money back I tell presidential liaison Marion I will use one more day of PTO as I must have a working washer for my 5 kids. At this point I am furious but LG is holding me hostage. So this last Friday I take off work and wait for the technician. Around 2:30pm I get a text from the repair company that they are sorry for any inconvenience but they would not be able to make it to my house today. Keep in mind they are the ones that picked the date and time. So now this is the 4th day off work and still not a working washer or anyone at my house. I call LG immediately and they cannot put me through to the presidential liaison stating they do not have a phone number. The customer service rep said she could have someone reach me on Monday. I could seriously type so much more details and frustration on this review but I am sure by now you get my point and share my frustration. Here we are 2 months later and 4 days of PTO and my family of seven still do not have a working washer. This cannot be very cost effective for LG not to mention they have lost a customer for life on ALL their products.

I love this washer. I havent even tried all the possible setting yet. It holds far more clothes than my old machine and gets the clothes clean. Love the deep fill setting.

Purchased this washer WT8405CW from lg.com about 2 months ago. Was delivered a little late but no problem. Washer does a great job and will hold a huge amount of clothes. Recently I had a problem with a bedsheet getting stuck between the drum and agitator and couldnt get it out. Called LG and they said it would be 5 days before they could send a repairman out. Just fixed it myself but had to buy a 18 3/8 socket extension to separate the agitator from the drum. Was a fairly easy job but 5 day wait for service is totally unacceptable. Otherwise this washer has done an awesome job.

We bought this LG washer about a month ago. And I have enjoyed using it. Got great selections for washing cycles. Extra cycles can be downloaded also. Washes clothes great and actually pretty fast. Highly recommend

11/11/24: I bought washer WT8405CW and dryer DLG8401WE on Nov. 11 from LG website. My clothes were getting ripped frayed and torn see photos I noticed fabric and dryer sheets getting caught on the front of the dryer near the lint trap see photo. They got so trapped you could barely pull them out. I requested a repair and was given 12/13 8-12pm for service. 12/13: No one showed up for the repair. I contacted LG. They said no one accepted my repair and said someone would come on 12/16 12/16: I was scheduled for 12-4. Contacted service at 4 because no one showed up and was told he was running late. Repair man showed up at 4:30. He said the dryer drum needed to be tightened and did so. After he left I did more laundry and the problem was still occurring. I called LG to report it and asked for a manager. LG has horrible customer service. I spent 1hr 40 minutes on the phone 47 of those minutes were waiting to talk to a manager and no one was ever available. I was told a manager from escalation would call me I never got a call. 12/17: I called LG again and was told a manager would call me back. They called that night. I was told they would escalate this to a Presidential Liaison and I would get a call. They never called. 12/18: I get a text from the presidential liason not a call. 12/19: the repair service comes out and says the whole front of the dryer needs to be replaced. I called LG to request to speak to the Presidential Liason. I got a phone call from her later on. I explained everything and requested a replacement as I didnt pay full price to have a refurbished dryer. I was told I cant get an exchange and only repair. I was told I only have 48 hours to exchange even though the machine is defective. I was told a repair man would come out. I would get a 2yr extended warranty on the machine and a check for my ripped clothes. I was scheduled for repair on 12/26 and was told she would call me on Thursday to check in no call was received. 12/26: I was scheduled for 8-12. No one showed up. No follow up call from LG liason. I texted the presidential liason. She told me it is not their issue to handle. I was rescheduled for 12/27 4-8pm. 12/27: No one showed up I texted service and got no response. 12/30 I got a text request to come on 12/31 New Years Eve no thank you especially after 3 no shows We set an appointment for Thursday 1/2. 1/2/25: Repair man comes out replaces front of dryer. I take out my clothes from the washer and discover pulled thread everywhere and the trim of my sweatshirt ripped off halfway around see photo so now it us evident that the washer is also ripping clothes. I messaged the Liason and so far havent heard back. I will be back to update this review.

Cleans very well. So glad to have made a switch to a topload with agitator. Love that it senes how long to wash for most of my loads go for 30min or so.

I love this washing machine. The large tub is great The reason I didnt give a 5 star review is the LG ThinQ WiFi. I have this app for our 2 TVs. The washing machine just wont connect. I would never use it anyway but I thought Id check it out.

I bought this and it was delivered Oct 5th. It would not spin or drain correctly immediately. I called LG customer service and was EVENTUALLY granted a service appt. The service person told me I needed to move the washer up higher because the pump was not strong enough to pump as high as my drain is located. When I asked how a 71year old woman was supposed to move it he said dont you have friends? I DO have friends who moved it for me and it STILL did not drain. At this point we are now 3 weeks without a washer so I installed one a friend had. Neither Lowes where I bought it or LG will do anything unless I reinstall the defective washer and let them send someone to declare it inoperable. So I have a brand new washer that doesnt work with no recourse. Will NEVER buy an LG product again.

Purchased this about a month ago. We are slightly annoyed at the machine because unless you do deep fill every wash it will NOT get stuff clean. We even had clothes go through whole cycles and not be completely wet still dry in places. Not a huge fan of the numerous buttons either. Just need to have knobs that are easy and not over complicated.

HORRIBLE PRODUCT. I CAN NOT WASH ANYTHING IN THIS MACHINE. IT BECOMES UNBALANCED NO MATTER WHAT I TRY TO WASH. ONCE UNBALANCED IT FILLS AND EMPTIES AND FILLS AND EMPTIES OVER AND OVER FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS. LG DOES NOT CARE. CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS NO ANSWERS. IT IS COSTING ME A FORTUNE TO DO ONE SINGLE LOAD OF LAUNDRY. I AM 69 YEARS OLD AND KNOW WHAT AN APPROPIATE AMOUNT OF LAUNDRY IS TO WASH. THE FACT THAT IT HAS NO CENTER POST IS THE PROBLEM ALL THE CLOTHES GET TIED UP IN A KNOT. I HAVE TO EITHER GO IN AND REBALANCE THE CLOTHES BY HAND OR FINALLY GIVE UP AND HAND WRING THEM OUT AND PUT INTO THE DRYER SOAKING WET. THAT MEANS THE DRYER WILL RUN FOR 3 OR 4 TIMES LONGER TO DRY THEM. I AM SERIOUSLY CONTEMPLATING GOING TO THE LAUNDRAMAT. IT WOULD TAKE LESS TIME AND MONEY THAT WAY. AS SOON AS I CATCH THE WASHER DRAINING THIS TIME IM GOING TO HAND WRING THE CLOTHES AND PUT THEM IN THE DRYER YET AGAIN. I HATE THIS WASHER.

I am reviewing my large capacity top load washing machine. After only 6 months the pump quit working. I am now waiting for a replacement pump which was ordered a week ago. Ive been told it could be two weeks. Dont buy this machine and perhaps dont buy an LG appliance.

I dont have this exact model but I have an LG top loader with agitator smart washer so Im sure its similar. Clothes DO NOT get saturated with water. During the wash cycle clothes are moving in the machine without getting wet so how do they get clean? I have to use the bedding setting when doing laundry so the tub fills up otherwise clothes come out with spots and still smell like perfume. When washing my sons 4 white school shirts I hate having to use the bedding option so I tried to download a cycle on the app using the 1/2 load option and clothes still dont get fully wet. Really not efficient at getting clothes clean.

I dont know why anyone would give this washing machine any more than 1 star . I have the top loading with the agitator and you cant control the water level. The machine adds what it determines is best and its not enough to move the clothes around if you have a mixed load. Jeans stay in the same spot during entire wash cycle. I am very disappointed in this washer. I had higher expectations for LG. I called HOME DEPOT and LG to try to exchange it for a different machine or a credit. Both told me no--there is nothing we can do for you. I would not recommend LG top loading washer to anyone.

Disappointed. Washer made very loud banging when spinning even if when in balance. Hard to see the buttons to use it. It cleaned and dried well but we didnt keep it due to the noise.

Avoid. Both my inlaws and I bought different LG washers and they both are having issues one is a barring issue that causes a high pitch dog whistle noise and the other squeaks a lot. Support has been awful and we have been lied to multiple times. Definitely go with another brand all together.

So far im not impressed my clothes not getting clean i put deep wash then turbo was with deep fill and filled the clothes halfway.......added all my detergent/bleach /fabric softener clothes didnt come out bright or fresh Im gonna give this 1 more time then im returning it

This product was delivered 2 1/2 weeks ago and so far I am very pleased. My old washer was over 20 years old so it took a few days to adjust to the newer technology. I must admit it gets my clothes cleaner. I am also thrilled that my comforter fits in tub with ease I have not yet attempted to use it with the WIFI.

Our 24-year-old Maytag was on its last leg so we decided to purchase the WT8405CW washer and DLE8400WE dryer through the LG Store on July 3 2024. The delivery and installation were flawless. However after the crew had left I noticed they installed used water hoses. Purchased and installed new hi-grade hoses and problem solved. All other parts supplied were new. Successful Installation test was run on the washer and dryer and we were ready to go. As usual with most technical products today the operator manual is rather skimpy to say the least. Anyway the first washing was ok but certainly not without challenges. Ended up switching to deep fill to finish washing the various loads. Unfortunately this used lots of water. Researching LGs site found an operator manual that that gave a more in-depth description of the washers functions. However a You Tube video of the operation on a similar machine solved most of our How to use the washer problems. We think the washer is really quiet and efficient per LG Thinq app -power usage. It looks like LG was a good choice but LG could have made things easier by including the English operating manual I found on their site. They could have also provided a couple of initial washer setup scenarios - just to get first time users started and feeling comfortable. Basically to find your way try the NORMAL set this way or try the HEAVY DUTY that way and evolve from there. As I said before the washer is great just make it easier for people to start using it.

The dryer is absolutely awesome as it is our first dryer the dries clothes quickly. The gas range Id phenomenal It has many features you only find in high end units and the grates are professional grade.
