The layout of the burners on the left side is much better. With the larger burner closer to the exhaust, smoke is pulled out better. Love the grease trap in the exhaust port. The temperatures of the burners are different from my previous cooktop, so there is an adjustment to be made. Good, fast heat. The downdraft does a great job of extracting the smoke. Nice simmer, but be careful with the setting. A small dial adjustment makes all the difference between a simmer and a low boil. Absolutely love the way the controls are protected from liquids and other stuff.

Problems with cooktop

As a Palisades fire victim, I purchased in July 2025 and just placed in service since we are close to moving back in our home. After ~3 uses, there are bubble-like defects showing under the surface of two of the burners. Just reaching out to Kitchenaid to see if they will do the right thing.

I wasn't sure about switching from my old gas cooktop to electric but I am very happy that I did. It heats up quickly, is very versatile in burner element options and the down draft venting is very effective. It is much easier to clean.

This is replacing a modular, cartridge Jennair- 42 inch cooktop. Nice to have a true smooth top, that the old one did not have. It heats up very fast and has simmer, warming features that are all very nice. The style of the top is very pretty.

This cooktop is remarkable. Large and super sized element for canning, superb simmering and even heat. Backlit controls would have been nice. The downdraft works surprisingly good although it whistles and is a lot louder than the previous one we had. Close to five stars.

Remarkable improvements from previous model

We bought this same cooktop in 2007 and recently had to replace it because the fan function broke. I can honestly say I wish the old cooktop had failed sooner, as this newer version is so much better! The most noticeable and outstanding improvement is how much easier the surface is to clean. It used to take at least 10 minutes, and I would dread the process. Now it takes a minute or two and it looks great - SO MUCH EASIER! I also appreciate the new, varied burner sizes and functionality.

It already has stains on burners I do not know how to get rid of having even tried a razor. They seem to be under the glass. I have not adjusted to it coming on high immediately and have tended to burn and char my beef.

I bought the cooktop for our kitchen remodel. It™€™s a beautiful piece but I™€™m nervous to cook on it. No matter how careful I am to use it, one burner leaves spots that I can™€™t remove. We clean it, carefully scrape it, and wipe it down, and it leaves white spots on the glass. And also, the cooktop gets very hot so must carefully adjust heat to not burn pans/food. I love kitchen aid appliances but this one really has me on egg shells to not ruin it. Not sure how to keep it from looking stained.

Unique Cooktop and Works Well Overall

This cooktop is very unique in terms of the built in downdraft. The unit works as it should for delivering heat and was not difficult to install. It is about as easy to clean as any other glass cooktop I™€™ve used although I wish the knobs were more flush, or easier to clean around. I wish the cover over the downdraft vent was stainless steel. Finally, I wish there was a lockout mode to prevent kids from accidentally turning a burner on.

We enjoy using this cooktop! We like the 5 burners, the placement of the knobs and vent, the size of the burners and the sleek easy to clean top and vent area. No more reaching far into a narrow hole. We had had a built in grill, so we made sure to buy a griddle that sits on top of two burners. That is our breakfast must have. We use it every day. Fragile product and poor support

During the installation process the top cracked. No crazy forces were applied. However, because it was touched, Kitchenaid determined this to be our fault and no help was given. I proceeded to get replacement parts (through searsdirect), which I understand drop ship directly from the manufacturer (Whirlpool). We've now had 2 show up broken... and have been waiting 4 weeks to get this cooktop going. Absolutely worst experience ever. I'm half tempted to bring this to the BBB... but at this stage just want to be able to cook again.

I did see mention of this problem in the reviews but had to make a quick purchase with few options due to my remodel. This is my 3rd electric cooktop and the first one I have had problems with. It looks much worse at this point than my last one did after 10 years. If the surface was more user friendly I would highly recommend this cooktop and have given it a 5 star rating.

The elements heat rapidly and evenly. The 'ultra' feature shortens the time for boiling a large pot of pasta water by about 1/2 against my old cook top. It also looks very sleek and the downdraft works well. . Didn't give 5 stars because it's hard to keep clean - even with the recommended cleaning kit. I've only had it about 2 months and so far so good, we'll see how it wears over time.

I™€™ve been using it for a month now and it works fine. Took some adjustments coming from a gas stove. Pans heat up differently so you have to use caution or you™€™ll have a mess on your hands. Clean up can be a challenge but with the right cleaners it does clean up well.

KITCHENAID COOKTOP FEATURES

We've used the cooktop for just over one month. We find it difficult to keep the black ceramic surface clean. Even when not in use, dust particles show up on the surface after a couple of days. No instructions or explanation was in the Use and Care Guide about the 6" element or 10" element labeled Even-Heat and Even-Heat ULTRA, respectively. On Low heat, the 6"control is labeled (Even-Heat MELT and ULTRA LOW). The 10" control is labeled (Even-Heat SIMMER and ULTRA LOW). What does all this mean and how should we use these elements in cooking? We would appreciate a reply.

My cooktop was installed about a month ago. It has been difficult to adapt to it. Low is not the same on all burners. The burners do not cool fast enough from high to medium to low causing food to burn. I have to remove the pan from burner to a trivet so burner can cool. The space between burners is too narrow to fit small pans next to larger ones. The black top doesn™€™t look clean unless polished dry after using. The dials are not intuitive. I have to stop and consider what I™€™m doing so I don™€™t turn on the wrong burner. Some burners take longer to heat than others. It™€™s difficult to find the sweet spot from low to simmer. The user™€™s manual doesn™€™t help to understand the differences between each burner. Can I use Bon Ami or Bar Keeper™€™s Friend powder to clean the cooktop? The chemical cleaners cause allergic reactions in me, so I can™€™t use them. Why doesn™€™t your website offer video instructions on how to use and care for this appliance? Why don™€™t you include a complimentary cleaning kit with your product?

I attempted to order this product in April of this year. After Lowes and Home Depot said they could not get it in until (maybe) the fall, I used a local business that acquired it within two weeks. We used it to replace a downdraft coil stove top that cooked unevenly. The new KitchenAid works like a charm. The only downside is trying to keep the area between the control knobs clean; especially after cooking something that splatters. The space is narrow and because it is a glass top, it smears easily when wiped.

When it was installed it didn't lay flat the cooktop was defective, the glass top was coming apart from the base and one of the elements was no connected inside the base and isn't laying correctly. The service department came out and said the part is out of stock when I called Kitchenaid they said I have to wait for 30 days while they search for a part and I'm suppose to check back with them instead of them reaching out to me. There should be no reason to have to wait this was a brand new cooktop and should be replaced. This is an item I need to use its not like a chair I can live without. I'm very dissapointed in this product and company who doesn't really seam to care.

I Love the Downdraft

Really like this cooktop overall. Love the downdraft fan. Love the smaller elements, but you need to be careful with the 2 large burners as they are REALLY hot! As with all flat cooktops, it is a little harder & more time consuming to clean, scrape and polish. No problems in 5 years!

Cook great! Super hard to keep clean

We have had this downdraft cooktop for a year now. It cooks so good but is a pain to try and keep clean unfortunately. I have recently started using glass cleaner on it between deep cleans with cooktop cleaner and that helps, but even if you just boil water you end up with spots on the glass. If you use the burner to the far right above the control knobs, whatever you cook also splatters on the control knobs so you have to clean them and then take them off to clean the cooktop glass under them. You won™€™t find a stove that cooks better, but keeping it shiny and clean is another story!

Poor Design

I purchased this a few months ago for a kitchen remodel. I needed a downdraft model to replace a Jenn-Air I had for many years. I bought the 36" 5 burner model because I have the room. The problem is four of the burners are in one half of the unit (18"). You could never use them at the same time as the pots touch and there is no room for pot handles.

We bought this cooktop a year and ago one of the burners isn't functioning correctly. No matter the level we turn it on, it goes straight to the highest heat(exceeds 750 degrees). Basically, we can't use that burner. To add to the struggle, when I try to get hold of anyone from KitchenAid, no one responds. Very disappointing.
