Our new cooktop is perfect for us. The five burners give great options for the size pans I have and the intensity of the burners needed for each one. The stainless steel base is easy to clean up drips and splatters. The burner grates can easily be wiped down or put into the dishwasher for cleaning. They are heavy, though, and you should use both hands to remove and the replace them. The gas burners heat the food quickly and are easy to control.

The burners for this cooktop have black plates to cover the burner holes. These plates stain easily with cooking oils and other liquids and are very difficult if not impossible to clean completely.
The grates themselves are heavy and the rubber pads provided to protect the stainless steel cooking surface when the grates are placed are very small. These rubber pads should have been attached to the grate itself not the cooking service because it would have prevented the grates from scratching the cooking service as they were put in place. In their current position mounted in holes on the cooking surface it is easy to not place the grate exactly on the pad and then a scratch to the cooking surface results. Very poor design!

The cooktop is a nice update to our kitchen. It looks great and works fine. The 5- burner configuration is a great use of cooktop space and is awesome with large pots, pans, and a wok. Too bad the knobs aren™™t metal. Plastic ones just impact quality a bit.

I bought this unit to replace another cooktop that no longer worked. The new model has screws underneath that made it impossible to close the drawer that was under the cooktop. It was a lot of work to get the shelf to fit again.

Just had this gas stove top installed. Having trouble igniting the burners. Gas comes out but it is hard to ignite burner. Disappointed. I have tried it several times and it takes a lot of coaxing to get it to ignite. If it continues, service call we have to happen. Had gas stove tops before, but none that are hard to ignite like this one. Would not recommend this stove top.

Bought from Costco, one burner piezo stopped working. Just outside of 90 days . GE sent a technician who inspected and didn™™t hv the parts to fix it. They hv ordered the parts and will come back when parts arrive.
Disappointed that a new cooktop would hv defect hardly 3 months into usage

My wife really enjoys cooking on our new cooktop. She appreciates the weight of the burner grates. They aren™™t heavy so easy to lift when cleaning. This was an initial selling point for her. 5 burners is an upgrade for us. Efficient burn function. The performance of this cooktop is awesome! It™™s perfect for our families needs. Excellent cost point too!. We like the metal finish another big factor along side our GE double oven.

Our burners aren™™t working - they installed this stovetop to replace the old 1970s one - and sadly it was a downgrade. They were kind enough to come one time to replace the circuit board and controls™¦seems they still need to replace the burners that are clicking but not lighting. This is™¦.disappointing

The gas burners are good quality but the controls, specifically the knobs, are cheap plastic. All it took was a an unintentional touch of a pan to melt part of the knob. Keep in mind this is within a month of installing this brand new range. For a company like GE, this is not what I expected.

The control knobs are cheap white plastic painted silver. The knobs are not heat resistant. Therefore the knobs melt if touched by a hot pan. The knobs will peel if they cleaned in very hot water.
The grates scratch the stainless steel surface. So beware when moving the grates.

Would give 4.5 stars because I think this is a really good cooktop. The burner layout is super efficient and the range of heat setting and low temp simmer capability is really good. My only complaint is the coating on the iron grates is not super robust.. in only a couple months the pots are "shining" up the cast iron coating surface.

Very poor design . Al top scratches easily when grate is removed for cleaning and placed back on . Plastic knobs are cheap and warp with heat . Paint in the knobs come off easily.

Very happy with purchase. Performs very well especially the middle burner for boiling water. With the heavy duty grates it looks very professional but that is also a problem. They are so heavy that removing them to clean it™™s very easy to scratch stainless surface. Needs some type of ™bootie™ on grate legs.

The stove top covers get dirty very fast. I was not able to clean them after first use. I dont even recall dropping anything on them but they are black amd crusty and impossible to clean. The handles can be removed but they are the cheaper ones and possible will break in no time. Things just aren't made to last. I wouldn't buy again.

Updated from a 2013 4-burner gas cooktop. Model JGP5030SLSS 5-burners and front controls are nice. Rubber grate protectors on the stainless are nice; previously they'd come off the grates. The burners remain the easiest to clean of any other gas cooktops. Only complaint is the knobs are not stainless, and easily marked up. Hopeful that the labels on the stainless surface last longer than previous models.
