I am complete unsatisfied with this dryer. purchase December 2024, IT IS DEFECTIVE ON JULY 2026 REPAIR AFTER A SEVERAL PHONE CALL VERY BAD SERVICE BY THE WAY, The dryer is only about 1 and 1/2 years old. I had mayor defect, I experienced poor service, the repair did not resolve the problem I have lost confidence in the product. I REQUESTED REPLACEMENT BUT IT WAS DENIED. after 6 months, I call like 10 times to get that dryer fixed, and they took to long to fixed, I ask to exchange it because it is a defective from factory and they just fixed and refused to exchange, now is happen again and I am not going to go over the same process. PLEASE review my case and provide goodwill resolution for my dryer model GFD55ESSNWW, PROVIDING REPLACEMENT DRYER. I have been a good-faith customer and expected mayor appliance to last much longer than it has without experiencing this issues. If we can not resolve this matter directly, I will consider filing a complain with Florida Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division and BBB

I purchased this dryer with matching washer and now both don't work. First the washer and now the dryer. I paid over $2000, and this is what I get. I have paid less for a washer and dryer and they lasted longer than these GE Appliances. I will never in my life purchase another GE product. Buyers please be aware because these models won't last you long, even with the best care. And don't try to fix them, you will waste money on parts that won't work. 4 years and they don't want to power on anymore. What a waste of money. I will now try Maytag or Whirlpool, and hope for the best.

DO NOT BUY. For real, there's got to be something better out there. 5/15/26 - Update to my original review: GE saw my original review below and responded. They agreed to replace the drum which they did, but it took about 4 weeks so we spent all of december with no dryer. We're at 4 months later now and the thing went completely dead mid cycle. No display, reset wouldn't work and I smelled burning. 2 tech visits later and they finally saw that this little thing in the pic attached had blown - melted wires, component just crumbled away when he poked it. He can't confirm but suspects that piece arched and also fried the control board. I'm so annoyed with GE and wished I never bought this thing or the washer that goes with it because that also had a fried board (smoke, burning smell, stopped mid-cycle) that needed replaced. Tech said Speed Queen is the best. 11/25/25 The drum cracked at a seam about a week after the 1 year warranty was up. The store said it would need replaced and quoted about $350 just for drum without labor. I passed and have been using heat tape over the crack for the past year. That no longer works and my clothes keep tearing so I™™m replacing the drum myself because I don™™t have the money to spend on a new dryer. DO NOT BUY THIS. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE KIDS AND DO A LOT OF LAUNDRY. IT™™S GARBAGE

Catastrophic Drum Failure Within Two Years

We were very happy with this dryer at first, but within two years of purchasing it, the internal components failed and destroyed the drum. It suddenly started making a loud clunking noise, which turned out to be the drum being torn apart from the inside. The damage was severe, including a gouge about 1/4 inches wide that extended nearly all the way around the drum. We had a repairman inspect it, and he said he had never seen anything like it. Unfortunately, this type of damage is not covered under the warranty for this model.

Completely Disappointed with GE appliances. . 1/2026: The washing machine started leaking from beneath the machine. After 2 months and numerous phone calls and emails, it was replaced. Literally, that same week the dryer sounded like it was going to explode. Both units are 2 years old. Now I am dealing with the same process of calling and emailing in order to have the dryer serviced, without any reply. The only good part to this story is that I purchased the extended warranty. However, a washer/dryer falling apart after 2 years is unacceptable. All of this is added to us already having to replace the entire electrical panel in our GE 36" induction range that is 6 months old. It just died after 6 months. Bottom Line - GE is no longer a trusted brand. In fact, GE appliances are the worst I have ever owned. Save yourself the frustration and hassle and purchase another brand.

Terrible Quality and Customer Service

My wife and I received this as a gift from my parents shortly after we bought our first home. Within a year, the seam in the lint trap separated and created a hole at the edge of the plastic frame. It wasn't big and didn't really affect the function, so we delt with it. It was just a little annoying considering that the appliance was practically brand new. Just as the warranty was about to expire, we noticed that the seam had cracked in the drum. It got worse pretty quickly, so we extended our warranty and called before the original warranty expired to have the drum repaired. Paying to extend the warranty was a HUGE mistake because we were denied a repair/replacement under the original warranty after they determined that the cracked drum seam is not considered "normal wear." I strongly disagree after reading several reviews noting the same issue. It's also worth noting that some customers had even worse luck with the seam cracks appearing much sooner than ours did. I can only attribute that to the fact that we're only a two person household and we line dry some of our clothing and linens that cannot be tumble dried. The only positive is that we were sent a new lint trap, but that's completely pointless because we cannot continue to safely use the dryer without fear of lint building up behind the drum and coming into contact with the heating elements, potentially causing a fire. I've contacted multiple customer services agents, tried to dispute the denial, and I've even tried to cancel the extended warranty, all to no avail. I'm out an additional $700 because of the 5 year extended warranty that customer service claims only covers mechanical failure. I read the Terms and Conditions. That's not at all how they make it seem. No one has been helpful and I've gotten so much conflicting information. It has been the worst customer service experience I've ever had and I regret trusting the good reputation of GE appliances. I will not make the same mistake with future purchases and I'll think twice before buying GE brand again.

Do not love the lint screen design. Lint sets on top and if you don™™t clean it before removing clothes it ends up in the laundry basket. Deal breaker™¦. ? No.
